iMac G5 crackling sound when attaching firewire cables

So when I attach my firewire drive to my iMac, I get a crackling sound out of my speakers. What is wierd is that this does NOT happen when attaching the iSight which also uses firewire.

I have also been experiencing strange hard disk behavior from my iPod and Firewire drive. Disk errors and disks not properly mounting.

Anybody have this happen?
