My four-year-old Quicksilver G4 is getting a bit long in the tooth. I've upgraded its graphics card to an nVidia GeForce 4ti, and it runs respectably on games such as Jedi Knight, Halo, and the new Star Wars Battlefront. My question is this: if I take the plunge and get a stock dual 2.0 GHz G5 with the Radeon 9600, what improvements will I see in graphics performance on games of this nature?

I'm sure it will depend on the games. I don't play the ones you listed so I can't say for sure but I can tell you how it affected Medal of Honor Spearheard and Breakthrough (Quake-based games).

I went from a Quicksilver dual 1GHz with a GeForce 4Ti to a G5 dual 2.0 with a 9600 Pro and the improvement was HUGE.

I really think it was more a matter of the CPU than the video card though.

Thanks for the info. I've played MoH on the G4 and it has a pretty rough time with it unless I dial down the graphics substantially.

From the benchmarks I've seen around it didn't seem as though the 9600 was dramatically faster than the GeForce 4Ti, but as you point out a lot of that may be CPU-related.
