I have an old G3, last month everything was working fine until I noticed the drive started to reacte slowly to anything I do. I tried to run Norton & Tech tools on it but did not work. Eventually the drive hangs. What that means is when I startup, the drive loads up the desktop image & then stops...I hear the disk drive clicking very slowly but it never mounts...HELP! I have tried Norton & Techtools by mounting the programs from the CD drive...but then again it hangs when I try Norton & techtools CD as the startup disk........is there anything I can do.......

if the drive is clicking then it could already be screwed.

if you open the G3 and unplug the HD, then boot from the CD does the Mac startup ok ?

to be honest it doesn't sound good :/

Immediately stop using the drive. If the mechanism still partially works it will be easier/less expensive for a recovery company to get your data off of it if that's what you desire. If the data has not been backed up and is important to you, you'll likely need one of those recovery companies. The most well known one is Drive Savers.
