I have a dual 1 GHz quicksilver G4. The power supply fan has stopped spinning as of late. I am assuming it normally spins constantly, and is not activated by a temp sensor... Can anyone verify this for me on a similar G4?

Thanks.

It's never supposed to stop, and the rotation speed should remain constant since AFAIK Apple's PSUs in the G4s didn't feature thermal sensors.

Any idea how much a new power supply costs? It does not look too difficult to replace.

You could just get an 80mm fan instead of a new power supply. Then just remove your old PS, take off the cover, and unstick the wires from the fan's case, then replace it. Kinda a PITA, but it'd be tons cheaper.
