I received my Pioneer dvr-110D today and installed in my Quicksilver G4 and am experiencing some problems.

After installation I tested the drive by playing a 'Star Wars' DVD, which loaded in the Finder and played back great in DVD Player. My next test was to burn a DVD in Toast Titanium 5.2. When I tried to burn a DVD I received an error message, "Medium Error, l-ec uncorrectable error".

I repeated this error with two more dvd-r discs. I then decided to see if it would burn a CD, which it did successfully.

Bur now, (after a restart) the drive will not recognize any discs that are put in, even though the Pioneer 110d is recognized in System Profiler and in Toast. I do not hear the drive 'spinning up' to read a DVD, CD, or blank media. When a disc is inserted nothing happens.

Darn.

I put back in the original CDRW drive and it works fine, so I guess my Pioneer 110d is defective.

You have a brand new model of DVD-RW drive and a 2 year old version of Toast.... Roxio's website seems to be down at the moment but I would recommend finding the compatibility list of drives for Toast Titanium 5.2 and 6.1.

Toast and the OS did recognize the drive, but when any type of disc is inserted the drive fails to spin now.

I sent the drive back to Newegg. They should receive it Monday and *hopefully* get me a new drive by Wed/Thurs. I will report back my findings here when I install the new drive.
