Hi, this is probably a stupid question but here goes, I have a G4 tower with every bit of software I need and set up to exactly how I need it which I could never replicate! Trouble is the hard drive is getting a bit slow and tired these days. Is it possible to just buy a new hard drive, copy everything across and boot up from the new one with out losing my settings???

The only stupid question is the one that goes un-asked.
The best way, by far, to make a perfect, bootable copy of your drive is to download SuperDuper from ShirtPocket software.

SD is the easiest and most Mac-like way to backup data. Underneath its seemingly simple hood is an astounding array of cool features to make the application as complex as you want. The free demo allows a full backup, whereas paying the shareware fee allows for extra features, such as incremental backups, filters, etc. (plus a free upgrade to version 2.0!).
Nope. I'm not affiliated in any way except for being a very faithful customer.
Good luck and hope this helps.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

Or just use Disk Utility, which is part of Mac OS X. Boot from a 10.3.x or 10.4.x disc, run Disk Utility, and use the Restore function. No downloads, no hassle.

Thanks for the replies they've been really helpful. I can still save it yet! Though it looks like I will have to load on OS X as I'm running 9. something. Hope thats not a swear word here!
