i have a 17" imac 2.0 Ghz 250GB HD 2GB Ram and bluetooth keyboard+mouse
when i manually turn it to sleep via the power button or by the blue apple the light will fade in and out but when i let it go to sleep on its own it will stay solid...i could have sworn that it fades in and out every time the computer goes to sleep and yes in prefrences i have the 'computer' going to sleep after inactivity for X amount of time.
is this on every imac or just mine...its not really important im just wondering

If it's solid, not pulsating, then it's not asleep -- it's just let the display turn off, but the computer is still awake.
