i've an imac g4 running OS 10.1.5

i posted about this already and got some good suggestions, but havent managed to solve the problem yet (this is a new thread in case there's someone that might know but isn't clicking on an old thread:

the disc-drive key doesnt work and neither do the three volume keys beside it. the disc drive opens if i restart holding down the mouse button, or eject through the dvd player, so i dont think it's the mechanism of the disc drive. changing the volume works going through system preferences. the keyboard is new and i had the same problem with an old keyboard. any ideas? i tried resetting the nvram - didnt solve it.

or any ideas of where else i could ask?

Did the eject button on the old keyboard ever work? - I am not sure that older macs [which did not come with eject and volume keys on their keyboards] will respond to these keys - but if I am wrong please someone say so.

thanks leica/tri/etc - problem solved. Jesus, i jumped when the disk drive opened - didnt expect it at all - after months of nothing working, open it popped - holding down the f12 for a second. thanks so much - thats so much better.

the volume keys still dont work though - any ideas? - i tried all the f-keys in case, but no avail..
