Well the following is $1,999, new, from Apple.

Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5
1GHz frontside
bus/processor
512K L2 cache/processor
512MB DDR400 SDRAM
Expandable to 4GB SDRAM
160GB Serial ATA
16x SuperDrive (double-layer)
Three PCI Slots
ATI Radeon 9600
128MB DDR video memory

So... over twice the processing, same hard-drive, faster bus, 16x superdrive, but... half the ram. Not to mention it is NEW and has a FRESH 1 year warrenty... I would say more like $1,200 for your friend's tower, unless the graphics card in it IS a 6800 Ultra, then maybe more like $1,300.

What do others think?
yep.

I'm guessing the GeForce is the stock POC, not worth much, I'd stay in the 1000-1100 range.

Does it come with any warranties? Does it have AppleCare or anything like it?

There's a 1.8GHz/8-slot on eBay right now with a Buy It Now of $1,000.
