Hi All ,

Hope someone can help. I have just switched my main home pc to a mac which is very very funky but i am having one problem. I use a laptop as well around the house (xp) and i can acces the laptop from my mac but when i go to view files from the mac on my laptop (photos mainly) the mac is not shown on my mshome network .I also have another pc for the kids (xp) and that machine shows up so i know the network is fine !! I spoke to apple and they advised me to turn sharing on from system preferences which i have done but still no joy. As a new Mac head so to speak am i doing something blatantly wrong ???

For one thing, the Mac usually uses the workgroup WORKGROUP instead of MSHOME. You can change the workgroup in Directory Assistance in the Utilities folder.

Just to check, you have turned on Windows sharing and not just personal file sharing?
