Hey,

I hope this is the right place for this question, because it is very MacMini specific and I need to hear back from MacMini users in particular.

I'm planning on getting the mentioned combo. And I know the MacMini supports up to 1920 x 1200 pixels, which the 24" monitor is, but I was wondering how it handles it. Once the video card is supporting it's max resolution, how is the MacMini handling general tasks? Is it sluggish?

I wont be using the Machine for games, just digital design type stuff (photoshop, flash, coding). But I want to get the largest monitor possible to keep it for as long as possible, and the cheapest mac upgrade to save up for the intels next year.

Thanks for any input.

It'll work. Expose and such will be sluggish, but it'll last you until the Intel transition.

Yep, it'll work but just barely. I have a mini and a 23" Cinema. There are little green artifacts, like static, that show up in the dark areas of the screen when set to millions of colors. Slide shows don't work in Mac Mail at all, at millions of colors. Other than that, everything seems fine without any particular sluggishness. (BTW, my display works fine on other Macs with 64MB of VRAM. The problems mentioned are just the result of pushing the mini's video to its max, which is what you'll be doing.)

I have that set up but with a mini which is upgraded to the max, 1 gb RAM and I use a 7200 RPM minimate as my start up disc. The 24" Dell is not a problem at all, not sluggish or anything and it's a beauty to look at.

To cast some more light on this...

It generally works fine, but you'll likely have issues running full screen video. It sounds like it's a driver issue, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Apple will fix it soon. I get all kinds of corruption in FS mode using VLC on my mini/2405PFW. Aside from that, you're laughing.
