Ive got a 1ghz Dual processer Mirror door Powermac and now i need help. A little info on it frist, the sticker on the case reads, "DP 1GHZ/256MB DDRDRAM/80GB HD/SUPERDRIVE/RADEON 9000 PRO/56K/1000BT. Now I need to find a harddrive for it. Frist of all it has 4 bays for harddrives, where does it go at when you use just one? Second that type of Harddrive should i use for it. Also im going to guess that this is able to run Tiger? After checking it out i found that it has 1280mb of ram. Im going to office depot later to get a DVI to VGA adaptor for it.

Sounds like it doesn't have a hard drive in it now. That model takes parallel ATA (PATA) hard drives. Two of the internal bays are ATA-100, the other two are ATA-66. Both bays support drives larger than 128 GB.

It doesn't matter where you put a drive, the system will find it. Technically, putting it in the ATA-100 bay will be faster, but in practice today's HD speeds are not high enough for you to notice much difference between the bays. Use Cable Select on this model - earlier G4s did not support CS, but the Mirror Drive Door G4s do.

Yes, all G4s and G5s can run Tiger.

just out of curiousity..........

How is that you can own 6 macs, know what a DVI-VGA adapter is, be able to determine the amount of ram in your new G4, but you dont know what kind of HD it takes or where to install it ?

just wondering what you've been doing with all those macs for the last 5.5 years

Well all my macs up untill now have been preG3 stuff, other than the iMac. I knew it took an ATA drive. Doesnt matter anyway as i got a 120gb drive for a good price. And i own 10 macs and a Newton, just not all are listed.

And is there anykind of powersupply issues with this computer? The people i got it from said it has a power supply issue. I cant seem to find anything other than it sounds like a 747 getting ready to take off, but i wont complain about that since it was free.
