I'm pretty sure I don't have a fan problem, but I was wondering what you guys consider loud or quiet on an iMac G5 in an absolutely silent environment. When your iMacs are on in a silent room, but not doing anything, do you guys still hear a fairly audible hum? The sound on mine is pretty noticeable, but not too distracting. I guess with some background noise, it's fairly inaudible. I guess I'm just being paranoid having read so much about the iMac.

Mine makes an audible hum, even with some background noise, but it's NOTHING like my old AGP G4 tower (which I didn't used to think was terribly loud).

I would say that under normal circumstances with light background noise (anything really), it's inaudible. In a silent room there's the very low hum of the fans going at low speed. that's it. I'm pretty sensitive but find it very acceptable.
