I just tried hooking up my PowerMac after a fairly extended period of it being disconnected. Now, if I push the power button it makes a clicking sounds, the fans move about a quarter rotation, and then it just dies. Nothing happens, no boot up chime, nothing.
This has happened once before, when I moved from college back home, and that time I was able to fix it, but I don't remember what I did any more.
Can anyone please help me out with this?

I don't think the ram is likely to be the problem. Improperly seated or bad ram could cause it to fail to boot up, but this is an interruption in the power cycle. Nothing's getting power at all other than, briefly, the fans.

A dead battery doesn't stop the power supply.
Unplug the machine for a while and try again; sometimes the power supply just gets confused.

Didn't work.
This sucks, I'm stuck in Windows on my gaming machine.

Well, I suppose it's possible...
I've had this exact same problem before, and I'm sure that last time it was a really easy fix. I just can't remember what the cause or the solution was. The best I've gotten out of the Apple support forums so far is to try resetting the SMU and PMU. Doesn't do the trick.
