hi

I am using a white apple pro (laser) mouse with a black keyed apple pro keyboard and the pointer intermitently jumps from one side of the screen to the other - the mouse has also frozen on several occasions

I had the same freezing mouse problem with the hockey puck mouse and original keyboard

what could be causing this? any ideas

Try a reboot. But it probably won't work. I've found that when the mouse starts jumping or 'disconnecting' (doesn't do anything until it's unplugged and replugged in) this means the mouse cord is failing. The wires aren't always making reliable connections anymore after being flexed for a few years.

In other words, time to buy a new mouse. You're just in time too, if you want a new Pro mouse. Apple has reportedly discontinued it, so if you wait any longer, they will no longer be availbele in stock anywhere.

1. The only mouse that uses a laser is the Logitech MX1000. All other optical mice are just optical mice with a regular LED light source.

2. The Pro mouse has been discontinued for about 2 years now. The current model (which does not have the click tension adjuster) is called simply "Apple Mouse".
