I did various searches and I still could not find the answer to this.

I have the orignal 700mhz eMac and I and I am using it as a server. I never use the monitor and I would love to just disconnect it (power it down, but not remove it). I read the Apple take-apart manual and I still could not figure out where the actual power input for the crt was. I found the video input port was and I could easily remove it but I want to power down the crt so the power consumption will be lowered.

Is this even possible?

Any help for a clueless person. Thanks.

Mmm, good question - refreshing to hear someone wanting to use less energy. There is this page http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/eServer/ which shows how to make a headless eMac with the 1GHz model - I don't know enough about the differences between the 700MHz and 1GHz models, but I suspect they are fairly similar in the analogue design and if you are good with electronics you may be able to work it out from here.

Good luck, don't kill yourself - I'm sure since you are are asking you know about CRT drive voltages - if not, go and do a load of reading and speak to someone who fixes old TVs.

Post back if you succeed.
