Okay, I've an eMac (ATI graphics chip) at 1Ghz; I Know it doesn't have USB2 support onboard; is there anyway to get USB2 connectivity (at USB2 speeds). I am awaiting upgrading the eMac until the new Intel based ones are available; but as Apple's moved to USB2 support (though USB 1.1 compatible) for the iPod nano, I would like to get access to both it and other higher speed devices that use USB2.

If it's not possible, that's okay; just thought I'd ask.

Would the connector on an external HDD that has two FW 400 and a USB2 connection work? I don't believe so, but thought to ask.

Cheers,

Best bet is to probably just buy the appropriate iPod dock-firewire cable.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

Firewire is not supported on the Nano. Period.

Even if he bought the appropriate iPod dock-firewire cable, it still wouldn't sync his Nano with his eMac. It's been confirmed that you can charge your Nano with a firewire cable, but you can't transfer music to it.

Unfortunately, I think your only option is to stick with your standard USB 1.1 ports. The initial sync will take a while - but after that, it shouldn't be unbearable. When I bought my first iPod mini in April, I only had USB 1.1 on my Windows PC (yuck) and I survived until I bought my iMac in early June.
