Just wanted to see what others set their cpu performance to. Also, if I leave it on highest will it affect my iMac in anyway?

I have a 20" iMac G5, 2Ghz, 2GB

Hi Zign. I posted this information a couple of months ago and it should be helpful to you.

"Hello all. It didn't occur to me until tonight to test XBench using all three of the CPU settings. My results were as follows.

REDUCED. . . . . . . .105.43

AUTOMATIC. . . . . .174.42

HIGHEST. . . . . . . . .185.30"

I set mine at Auto unless I'm doing something video intensive. It does cut down on the fan running a lot. And, as you can see, the performance difference isn't so great as it is when going down to the "REDUCED" level.

Hope this helps,

PeteWK

THIS IS THE EDIT - My machine is the mirror image of yours: 20 inch 2.0 G5 and 2 gigs of ram.

I run mine on Auto unless, like PeteWK above, I'm running something that requires maximum CPU performance. Auto keeps my iMac much quiter then running on Highest.

when I first got my imac 2ghz a month ago I had it running on highest but found that the fan was much louder. When I switch to auto I barely ever hear the fan so I think it's worth the slight performace cut in exchange for silence.
