Long time PC Power user (Zero problems & nothing bad to say but that's another story)

I've always been fascinated with different OS's and I've tried them all at one point or another: OS2, Linux, FreeBSD, BeOS so it was only a matter of time before I bought a Mac. 1st new Mac was an iMac DV $999.00 OUCH! At least I can get $30.00-$40.00 for it now I paid for the OS X Beta. Since then I've purchased a couple of used older Macs to upgrade, sidegrade etc. I have a used dual 450 and I sold an upgraded Cube not too long ago. A few weeks ago I "scored" a MDD on eBay that died not too long after I received it. I struggled to get it going then threw in the towel....more time & energy than I'm willing to put into it. I was going to focus on upgrades for the Gigabit Ethernet but then I said what the heck & threw down and bought a Dual 2 GHZ G5 @ Amazon for $1850.00 shipped after $200.00 rebate. My first KILLER Mac.

I don't really need it for any specific purpose. I tend to phase in & out of games, DV editing etc. but when I need the power, it's there. Since the MDD took a dive, I've been using the Dual 450 as my main machine. I'm amazed by how useful & responsive it still is.

Anyhoo, this is my next step toward a full switch. I have no complaints with Windows but it gets a little boring once you've mastered it . At least for me, OS X more of an "experience" and just more fun to use than anything else out there.

OK, I'm babbling. Now the waiting for the UPS guy to show up anxiety kicks in It should be here Wednesday....

Jeff

Enjoy your new G5 Dualie!

In this particular case, WTH is appropriate; although during troubleshooting, I usually go with WTF.

Very true. I guess at my age, I've been doing just about everything for a long time, just longer on the PC. Where does the time go?

Thade, what killed your MDD? I got a DP 1ghz MDD for free from a PC Repair shop here in town that said it had a bad powersupply, ended up it just needed a harddrive.

I wish it was the HD but no dice. I actually brought it back for a couple of days with a Gigadesigns CPU. At first, it fired right up but it dies again. it's either the logic board or 2 bad CPUs

Did you try exchanging the gigadesigns cpu? If it died as well, and it's not the logic board you could still get the mdd going.
