Well, I tried searching through, but couldn't find the exact question I am going to ask. I just need a brief answer anyways .

We're looking to upgrade from our current G5. We basicly want a second one, and we want the best possible machine. Currently we have a Dual 2.0 G5.

My question is this:

We don't absolutely have to have it right now. Should we either:

A) Wait for the Intel PowerMacs. (I really don't think we can wait this long however.)

B) Wait for a Dual-Core Dual-Processor G5. Are these even going to happen? Anyone have an educated guess?

C) Stick with a Dual 2.7 that we can get ASAP?

Thanks in advance!

Well, you can't wait for an Intel Powermac, that's 1.5 years away or so. Dualcores might happen, but you never know.

I'd say wait until September is over, since there are enough rumors about something happening this month, but to buy if nothing has happened efter that.

Stongly agree - wait for the end of september! I ordered my G5 2,7 PM
And i'll tell You why:
I ordered my G5 2,7 PM very late july. At the end of the august i started to terrorize my supplier with "hey, where's my machine?!?". They said, that Apple told, that 2,7 macs will not be available for some period of time... no, i got mail, that my mac will be here around 20th of september. And guess what - at this date starts Apple|expo in Paris. Well, as my supplier send some heavy words to euro dept., I guess i'll get 2,7 G5, but [he wispered me] that maybe I'll recieve new mac with duals. So - wait couple of weeks - it mustn't be SO hard

That was just due to supply problems with the 2.7GHz chips. Paris has come and gone and nothing was announced. That's not to say that new machines won't be announced anytime thereafter, but you know Apple...

Did you get your 2.7?
