Yes, in theory. But that doesn't necessarily mean you've been hacked.

The talking could be happening for lots of reasons. Maybe you've turned on VoiceOver or activated another speech feature by accident. Check the 'Speech' and 'Universal Access' panels of System Preferences.

What do you mean by 'the apple menu is different'? Can you post a picture? (Command-Shift-3 saves a screenshot on the desktop.)

---

If you're worried that you've been hacked, the first thing to do is get your computer completely off the Internet. Unplug the phone line and/or ethernet cord and turn off the Airport and Bluetooth power. Use another computer to find out what you need to know to fix your Mac. (If at all possible, of course. If you only have access to one computer, just stay offline as much as you can.)

What services are you running? (Checkboxes in 'Sharing' panel of System Preferences).
Is the firewall on? (Another tab in 'Sharing'.)

It sounds like some of your options have been changed-which could happen without any outside interference...

However, as budster101 says, make sure your firewall is on.

The hacker also seems to have disabled capital letters and punctuation on your keyboard. Bastard!

So it wasn't a hacker.

It was a hack.

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).
