Try changing the mouse.
The Apple Optical Mice have dodgy cords that sometimes break and cause problems.

I downgraded from OS X 10.3 to see if this fixed the problem, but it didnt. It still crashes after running disk first aid. Should i try and buy an apple optical mouse? is there a chance that the microsoft mouse is the problem? Cheers

I swear your original post said Apple Optical mouse.... oh well.

Ignore the mouse.

Have you tried swapping/adding/removing ram?

Have you got any external drives or peripherals plugged in?
Try removing them and see what happens.

Is your ram 2x128mb ram modules or 1x256mb module?
Try removing re-installing ram to see what happens.

If it dies after some time, I'd say heat might be an issue. It's common enough that older components fail in heat. Memory would be the first thing I'd test.

My memory consists on 2 x 128 modules, i took them out and put them back in, i think it did make a difference, but it still crashed whilst watchin a dvd. Is there any part that i can check or if need be replace in the cooling system that could help? Thanks

Try taking out 1 stick of memory and see how it runs.
If it runs fine then the other stick of memory is most likely faulty.

I tried it with only one stick of ram and it still crashed, however i have upgraded to 10.4 and its telling my that one of my sticks of ram is PC100 and the other is PC133, could this be what is causing the problem? Thanks

No. That machine only requires PC100, so both PC100 and PC133 shoudl work. But try it with only the other stick and see if it crashes.

Would 10.4 be happy running with only a 128 stick? Thanks
