(it only has 128 mb. and i will want to go to 512 mb). it will only be used by my mom, who will need it only for appleworks and safari...will this computer be ok? also what os will be inlcuded if its refreshed to factory settings? thanks guys, i know - im a newbie lol.

Hi, as the new eMacs are much better than the one you are looking at, you should really consider what you want to spend for it! I mean, the new eMacs costs around 700 bucks, which is a really good deal for an Apple of this speed! So, when you can get the old one for about 250-300 bucks, take it and give it an extra 512MB of RAM! But if you are to pay more than 450-500 bucks, you should really spend the extra 200 bucks and go for a new one! You will be much happier in the long term! Really, I had an eMac 700MHz and it was ok, until I started going into Photos and iPhoto!

Think about it! I would take the current eMac! It's cheaper than a Mini with much better stats and the Monitor, keyboard and Mouse come with the eMac!

Ok, for under 100 bucks, take it! Even if its not what you want in the End, you can sell it with Profit at ebay!

I would upgrade the RAM to 1Gig! With that, it should run Tiger with very little Problems!

Oh, and try to really keep 10GB of Harddisk Space free! It's really a slowdown on the eMac, when you don't have enough virtual memory! Not like your Powerbook! :-)

Hi,

it has two RAM slots! but the Prozessor can only use 512MB Modules! Ich had 640MB in my eMac for about a year and then upgraded to 1Gig! It really made a difference!

If you are looking for features and infos about Apple Computers, you should download Mactracker from versiontracker! It answers most Questions about Specs and upgradability!

should be fine with extra memory. i use a 800mhz g4 ibook and its fine. $100 is a steal, pick it up
