Hi,

I have an iMAC 1.8 GHz 17". I am currently running OS 10.4.2 with all latest updates installed. When I attach my tv (a 70 cm CRT), it mirrors my dasplay. However, when I set my iMAC display resolution to 1440 x 900, it does not use the entire display. When I set the iMAC resolution to 1024 x 768 (stretched), it makes all apps and my desktop icons way bigger. I have set the external display resolution to 1024 x 768, and that works perfectly. When I take the VGA plug out my iMAC, the screen sets itself to the proper resolution automatically. I have already tried SwitchRes, but I cannot get it to work properly. It would be best if I can choose not to mirror it, but use it as a separate display. I really hope that you can help me out. I do not want to take the plug out every time I finished watching something on my tv, running on my MAC.
