I had a late night problem last weekend. I had had frozen and when I restarted I got ? mark in a folder and wouldnt go any further. I called my brother on Sunday and he advised me to do a System Softward Reinstall. Well I did so and it restarted fine. But I only got back a few things that I forgot to save on disks or on desktop. Some of my settings went haywire. I was able to get back online. Which I was glad about since that is my lifeline. I updated my CarbonLib for some of my programs. I am still workin on getting My Epson Printer and UMax scanner to work. Any suggestions Are welcome.

Here's what I'd do:

1. Get Disk Warrior and see if there are any problems with your boot drive. If that doesn't fix things, then.
2. Backup everything, reformat, reinstall your OS from scratch, then restore your important documents and applications.

Good luck,

That wasnt it. As after I did the reinstall most everything was back. I am just having a problem with my printer and scanner application. Where to put them as far as their preferences, etc. I do not have Disk Warrior. Is it free? I am afraid to download anything outside of Apple.com anymore.
