I was offered a 17" with the following specs for $1,000 from a local guy who bought it new 3 months and still has 9 months left on the warrenty:
17'' Widescreen Display
1.8 GHz G5 Processor
1 GB RAM (2x512 MB)
128mb video card
160 GB Hard Drive
Combo Drive (CD Burner, reads both DVDs and CDs)
Apple Wireless Keyboard (also in original box)
Manuals, CDs, etc.

Is this a good deal? Are there any knows issues with this machine I should be aware of before buying?
Can I hook up an external monitor like a Dell 2005fpw? I really wanted a 20" but can't seem to find one at a price I can afford. Any advice or information is greatly appreciated.

I would say its a good deal. If you wonder over to Apple.com you'll see that you would be saving at least $299 off the price a new iMac @ 1.8Ghz not to mention a few bucks more with the extra 512M stick.

I would say do a test drive on that machine and play it by ear.
