Hi!

I'm a beginner, so...

I know there is a way to run disk utility on my boot drive using the OS cd. But what are the steps I need to go through?

Please advice on details!

Shove the CD in the drive, reboot and hold down 'c' until it loads from the CD. I forgot how to launch DU from the install disk, probably from the Apple or file menu quit the installer and launch DU.

1. Please post in the correct place in the future -- this isn't a Power Mac-specific question.
   
2. Boot from the OS X CD by holding down the C key on reboot.
   
3. Choose the language, let the installer come up -- but don't begin installation.
   
4. Launch Disk Utility:
   1. For Mac OS X 10.0-10.3.x: choose Open Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
   2. For Mac OS X 10.4: choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.

Good point for sure, I thought perhaps my post belonged in the PowerMac forum since I have a G5. I'll be sure to get it right next time. Anyway, thanks a lot folks!
