Hi.

I want to buy a hard drive in a magazine for £35 (including p&p) but i dont know if it will work in my imac. (see signature)

its an ExelStor IDE 80gb 7200rpm 2mb cache, but i dont know if it is the right interface. it says it is " UDMA133 ". i took my current one out and had a look but it didnt say anything 'bout the interface on it. (or on the logic board)

any help greatly appreciated.

From a quick google search,

I found this!

Which is selling a 120GB 7200rpm Hard Drive (Diamond Max Plus) UDMA 133Mhz and says "Can be fitted to iMac, G3 & G4 (installed free if ordered with a system)"

Hope that helps!

Edit - Thanks for making me find that site, cheap RAM on there!

The interface on your machine is IDE PIO 4, which is the predecessor to the first UATA standard (or ATA with DMA - sometimes incorrectly called UDMA). That drive is 4 generations newer than your iMac's IDE chip, but it should work in any case. Just make sure to set the jumpers correctly.
