Hi, this is my first post, and I need some help. So I've got an eMac running 10.3.9 and the latest version of itunes. I've got about 18 gigs of music and after hearing about a friend losing $4000 worth of music when his iMac decided to hate him, I realized I need to back up my files. What better device to use then my 60gig ipod.

Well, when I put it in disk mode and went to my music folder to transfer it, I discovered that all the filesin the folder were from the original music I transfered from a G4 laptop to the EMac when I first got it using target disk mode. So I went to iTunes, advanced, then consolidate music library hoping to update the folder with all of my new legally purchased music on iTunes. Nothing, only original music files. Did it again, nothing.

So my question is, how can I back up my files using disk mode on my iPod when I have no idea where the files are. I'm obviously no computer whiz, and I checked everywhere I could for some kind of folder but I couldn't find it. Consolidate library isn't working with my music folder, where else could it be hiding? I can play all of it on iTunes, so it has to be somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Right-click on one of the files where you are not sure of it's location, and choose "show song file". This should take you to that particular song, which you then can see the location of it's enclosing folder.
