I have got a dual 2.0 pm..purchased about four months ago..i was thinking of upgrading its stock ram with two gb from ocw...
i am thinking of buying these:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other...g/3200DDR2GBP/
has anybody every bought ram from them...i wanna know about reliability and ease of upgrading and if it is worth it (for doing video editing work...sd work. not hd..not yet..)
i have already i want to max out my performance and i wanna know if ram will do the job...
and by how will it increase performance?
will it give me faster render times or will it just allow me to load more software at the same time...
i need some advice because i dont want to waste my money on ram...i would rather buy a PSP if ram will not improve my machines performance by much...
thankyou for your advices...

It depends on how you use your machine and how much ram you currently have.

If you're doing video or a heavy Photoshop user and only have 512mb of memory yeah, your going to see a big difference. If you are a light photoshop user, or mostly business apps and have a gig of ram, well then you may not see much of a speed bump by adding 2 gig of ram.

The video card, and hard drive speeds are two other components you focus on to increase your speed.

As for OCW, I cannot speak to the quality as I never bought memory from them. I've been using crucial ram, a little more pricey then some others but I've never been disappointed and their service has been great. I've seen too many threads here and in the PB forum of people complaining of bad ram. I'm a big proponent of "you get what you pay for" I paid a lot for my G5, no use in cutting corners and saving a few bucks now, only to haunt me in the future.

Buy both.
A gig of RAM is $125 at Crucial (my prefered brand).
A 300GB HDD with a 5 year warranty (Seagate) is $153 at Newegg. Add an enclosure for about $35 if you'd rather have it external (and slower) instead of internal.

well, my internal is full...i've already got a 320 in there plus the stock 160...
the 160 is filled with software i use and the exported video files/save files....
the 320 is for capture files and apparently, since i am working on two projects at a time, i need to put one in storage when not in use...
