So, my PowerMac Dual 2.0G5 came with the old, yet solid 9600. About a month later I decided to update it. I had no interest in installing the drivers because the ATI displays really doesnt help me out.

Anyways, I'm curious how the err.... BIOS or ROM factors work with mac cards. IS there any sort of "bios" flash I need to do with my powermac to increase compatibility performace? Also, there are ROM updates which I've installed, but I dont really know what they do. So, can anyone help me get the best compatibility for my machine?

Step 1) Take out the 9600.
Step 2) Put in the X800.
Step 3) Turn on the Power Mac.
Step 4) There is no step 4.

He said he doesn't want to deal with the ATI Displays and the ATI drivers should be included with the latest OS X version.

I saw that but I think the preference panel is pretty neat and provides some nice control over the video card. I'm not sure if you can install that w/o the drivers.

fwiw, I've never had a problem with ATI drivers anyways.

It's just like any other computer. Take the old card out, put the new card in, and go.
There may be a new firmware for the card available; check ATi.com.
