Been a while since I posted..

but I got a simple question. You guys think I would gain anything by maxing out my MDD Dual 867 @ 2GB of Ram? I currently have 1GB, and Im looking for an upgrade or something that will hold me over until intel powerbooks come out. System still runs pretty good, it actually kinda seems though that Tiger might be slower than Panther was (maybe its because I still use a Stock Geforce 4MX card). What ya think?

I don't think performance gain should be as much of a consideration as it normally is given how low RAM prices are right now. A 512MB stick of name brand RAM runs around $40.

Stock up.

Are you swapping now in the course of your normal work load? If yes, buy more RAM. If no, don't bother.

I noticed a lot of swapping this weekend - turned out to be Bits on Wheels hogging about 130MB of real RAM and over 2GB of virtual! Even without that broken memory hog running, I have found recently that my 768MB is not quite enough to have all the usual crap open at once.

If it helps you decide, I noticed a decent gain when I went from 768mb to 1.25gb. I got the machine with 768 by the way. So even if you don't want to put $100 into it, another 512mb chip will make a difference.
