Yes. But it won't perform as well as it would on a faster mac.

An external Firewire hard drive would do you well for any serious work.

An external, 7200 RPM Firewire hard drive would definitely be important for FCP editing. You'd simply need more space and the disk transfer speed that it offers. Also, you'd probably want to get 1 GB of RAM to cut down on disk access.

While all the aforementioned upgrades will help. I personally think FCP runs fine on the mini as is (especially with the new 5400rpm drives.) FCP has been used for years on far weaker computers. I think most non-professional editors would do fine with the mini.
