My mother used to have a cube with a 15" Apple Display
(http://www.everymac.com/monitors/app...isplay_15.html)

She upgraded recently to a mac mini - and had to get an Apple ADC->DVI adapter.

She has started noticing an odd behaviour. If she leaves it idle and it goes to sleep, the display can't be woken up again. It remains dark. I can't work out whether the Mac has crashed or just the display won't wake.

Has anyone seen this behviour?

This is bizarre. I had a mac mini acting funny on me the other day, and after going through system preferences (but not changing anything) the problem seemed to remedy.

Really? Were the symptoms the same as I posted?

Some other people have noted the same problem (scroll down the page a bit):

If their solutions don't help, you could just not put the Mini to sleep. I don't ever put mine to sleep - I just put on the screen saver and switch the display off.

Thanks, will try that.

Interesting - My mother said that these problems only occurred after she re-arranged the computer (had a hole cut in the desk to hide stuff under it.)

So the loose power cable could be the cause.
