Which video card would you choose if you were getting a new G5? I'll be running a 23" cinema display (no need for the 30") and I want great game performance. Since they cost the same, I can't decide between the X850 and the 6800. Experiences? Reviews? Thanks!

I guess I shouldn't start another topic, since my question is similar.

I'm also getting a G5, and I currently have the ADC 20" cinema display with my G4's (2002 Quicksilver) GForce 4MX video card. Can I use this card in the G5, or will I have to pay the extra $350 for the ATI card with ADC support?

A simple question, but I cannot find an answer anywhere. The stock G5 card doesn't have ADC support.

The AGP slot in the G5 is not compatible with 4X AGP cards such as the one you mentioned. If you're looking for a low-cost option, look for someone who is selling their Nvidia5200 Ultra, Ati 9600, or Ati 9600XT. You can usually find someone like this in the Marketplace here, or EBAY.

Hell, I still have my 9600 XT or Pro.

Anyways, it's a 128MB card that came with my PowerMac and it worked just fine for day to day operation. Was able to play WoW reasonably well on it as well, with 1600x resolution.

Not really sure what it's worth, but it only got about a month of use before I ordered my x800. I would have got the X series card initially, but I couldnt fit the whole purchase on my credit card.

GoldFISH_no641@comcast.net if you want to contact me about the card.
