Ok ive either got a bad modem or the most pissed off PowerMac. I have dialup through both AOL and Bellsouth. I mostly use Bellsouth since AOL seems to mess up alot. It takes me at least 5 trys to get on with OSX's internet connect thing. Frist try normally just does some beeping sounds and dissconnects, 2nd try gets no carrier signal, and thrid might connect. It takes the modem about 10-20 seconds to get a dialtone. My normal connection speed SHOULD be at least 49k, but it mostly 30-40k, this is ******** to me. Either im going to replace the modem, or just sell this damned thing and get a newer iBook. The sad part is my iMac with OS9 connects on the frist try.

And please dont give me **** about get DSL or Cable, belive me ive tryed, where i live they wont run it.
