I'm finally getting around to doing some upgrading on the old 400mhz G4. I recently had to upgrade the hd and i'm about to add a dvd burner. I wanted to add a pci controller card to speed up the ata bus a little bit, i was thinking either sata or ata133. My question is about what cards are supported. SIIG. Acard, Sonnet, and FirmTek all provide host cards in the $75 range. I've seen a lot of similar cards on ebay at very cheap prices that are listed just for use on PC. Will any of these work in the Mac? or is this this one of those things where specific platform drivers are needed to run the controller card? Thanks.

Nope, you can't use just any card in your Mac. You need to buy one that advertises Mac compatability.

I'd go with SATA, since the drives tend to be cheaper, the cabling is easier, and it is the way of the future.
