Hi guys-

I heard from another person that the new DC's are optimised to run on Tiger or newer (revised version) and should not be run on anything less. Can anyone confirm this for sure??

I have software that is not completely stable on Tiger yet and need to run it on Panther.

Maybe I should look into the older 2.5, or more recent dual CPU's if this the case??

THANKS for the help
Appreciate all the feedback

Usually you need the OS that comes with the computer (or newer). Chances are pre 10.4 wont have the drivers for the new powermacs.

We need someone with a DC to check though
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

Nope. New G5s are 10.4 only. There are drivers for the G5 that weren't written for 10.3.9.

Where have been, even with the Dual Processor 2.0, 2.3, and 2.7 you have to go through loopholes to get 10.3.9 on them as they came with Tiger.

The dual 2.5 came with Panther - when I got it the first thing I did with it is upgrade it
to Tiger. So a refurbed or closeout dual 2.5 would be a good deal to get. They're fast
machines for sure, especially if you create a raidset - speedy.

I don't think so, they have a new system controller and I doubt that the new one will be supported by Tiger. Ditto for the new graphics cards.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
