OK, here's a link:

OK, here's a question:

Why would I choose one of these over a new PM? The dual g5 1.8 and 2.5 are in stock but not cheap. Is there a reason to prefer one of these older units vs. the latest models?

I need a new PM is the reason I am asking all this...thanks for all opinions.

Anywhere else I might get a better deal?

At those prices; No.

I always recommend checking with CompUSA for blow-outs after a product update, since they seem to drop the tag a great deal more than any other Apple reseller does to clear inventory.

I bought a Dual 2.5GHz, brand new, for $2,199 from CompUSA a few weeks back. And that was before the new PCIe Power Macs were announced, while the Dual 2.7GHz was still $2,999.

I second that, the prices are way too high. It's a business, they try to make money, so that's ok.

If you can find a refurbished model (especially the dual 2.7) cheaper somewhere, that might be worth considering.

Note that the dual 2.0 is $100 less than the dual 1.8 with better specs beyond the processor.

I just bought the old dual 2.0 last weekend to avoid having to re-buy 3 PCI video cards. I was able to re-use some RAM from an old machine in the dual 2.0. Overall, I figure I saved $900.

it looks like the "old" dual 2.0 is an ok deal with the options it has vs. the dual 1.8 here. i cant remember what these configurations sold for originally.

i checked compusa but no luck. same with the places i checked that advertise in the magazines. oh well, maybe i'll try the dual 2.0...

I think Macmall also had a deal on older hardware - check them out if you're interested.
