On crucials site two 1gb sticks are listed for the new iMac 20" DDR2 ram. One is PC2-4200 and one is PC2-5300. Cost difference is minor. Any suggestions on which one to get?

I got the 1GB 4200 slightly cheaper one. Apple says the memory specs are 4200 anyway so I didn't see any difference. I'll also probably swap it for a 2GB stick later on as well.

* PC2-4200
* unbuffered
* nonparity
* 240-pin
* 533 MHz
* DDR2 SDRAM

The 5300 won't perform any better than the 4200. It could, but the iMac doesn't support speeds that high.
