I recently bought my first mac ( a powermac g5 dual 1.8 ) and i noticed that the bottom cpu fan seems to allways run slower than the top one.

Is this supposed to happen? If not, is there a way i can pump the fans right up to test the max speed?

Run the Apple Hardware Test. It's on disc 1 of the Tiger installation set, but you have to hold down the Option key while booting.

They're fine. They often run at slightly different speeds.
