Sometimes it worked sometimes not. Funny timing though, after many years my imac 400 gave out. Pretty sure it's the power supply. I thought I could get it to kick on one last time to get everything transferred over, but it won't kick over. The data I want is nothing crucial I have to have, but would like to grab eventually. How expensive to buy a power supply, or is there a better alternative to get this stuff ttansferred.

Thank

Just pop open the iMac, snag its hard disk out and plug it into a working Mac, or into an external FireWire enclosure and connect that to a working Mac.

I took the HD out and am now looking at the plug with many many pins at the end of the cable. I have a few ibooks, so how can I plug the HD into my ibook, or what else specifically can I do to transfer.

Thanks
