Imac g3 DV slotloading (optical Drive Issue)

I have the slot-loading ImacG3 DV and everything is fine except that once in a while (this happens when I am surfing the internet)I hear my optical drive making the sound it normally makes when I put a dvd disc or cd disc into the slot.In other words it is making this "loading" sound but I am not putting a disc into it.It does,nt happen too often. In the past 2 months it has done so maybe 3 or 4 times.Is this normal? Is it something to worry about? What causes it? When I do actually insert a cd or dvd it plays fine and accepts and ejects them normally.

Dirt? Sounds like the drive is detecting a disc and trying to inject it.
