I just installed a DVR-110D (dual layer)in my G5 using the optical drive guide pins from the original drive. I know that it is properly installed and have taken it out and tried it again. But with its larger bay door, it catches on the top of the G5 opening. It's just a fraction too small and can actually be forced open, but that would get old fast. Are there smaller drive guide pins? What is the solution? thanks

On all the recent Pioneer DVD±RW drives that I've seen, the lip of the drive tray can be removed. If you open the tray and look at the underside, you will see that if you pull outward and then upward, the lip can be removed.

That did the trick! If only all tech problems could be solved so simply. Thanks

I had to do both. I had to remove the lip and use smaller screws. Going from a Sony to the Pioneer.

Where did you get the smaller screws? What size did you use? I'm going to be doing the same thing, and trying to get Apple to give me the Pioneer screws has gotten me nowhere, and most other places don't know what I'm talking about.

I had the same problem when I fitted a 110 into my G5 as I also had Sony screws.
I took off the faceplate to stop it hitting the G5 casing.
HOWEVER...in a flash of inspiration I put the faceplate back on and unscrewed the two rear screws a little to raise the back of the 110 slightly.
The drive now opens and closes perfectly AND still has the faceplate on it (keeping out dust and suchlike, I hope )
Hope this works for some other people.
Cheers,
Matthew
