I have my computer set to not sleep at all (unless I invoke it). Yet after several minutes the sleep light turns on and monitor turns off. Any ideas? Is this just the display sleeping or the entire system?

My powerbook never did anything like this.

It's just the display sleeping. The light comes on to let you know your computer is still turned on. When your iMac is sleeping, the light pulsates just like on your PowerBook.
