I would save a disc image from idvd and then burn the image using disk utility or toast if you have it.
The iapps and even superdrive support for 3rd party media is disgraceful.

Did you try another disc? What about inserting the disc when prompted instead of before launching iDVD?

What brand of media are you using?
I have had a lot of problems in my eMac with Verbatim branded discs.
Maxell DVD-Rs work the best for me.

This is very frustrating.
I thought I had burned a cd but when I tried to play it on a cd player, it would not work. I put it back into the emac and there was a message saying that it was blank. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you sure you didn't run through a test mode? Some burn programs have a box you can select to run through the burn to see if the data will go fast enough but it won't burn anything even though it goes through the same motions as an actual burn. I know Toast has this feature.
