I'm wondering if anyone has tried using 1GB modules to install more than 2GB of RAM in PowerMac MDDs. Will it work? Thanks.

Will it work with 1GB modules at all? I currently have a machine with 768MB, can I get a 1GB module for it? I would prefer a 1GB module over two 512MB modules in case I ever decided to get a Mac Mini I can use the memory.

If you could find a 1 GB module, I see no reason on earth that the machine wouldn't recognize it. Not sure if the OS with that Processor/motherboard combo will recognize more than 2 GB, though.

I did it. Picked up a stick of 1GB PC3200 and stuck it in. It works fine, but, as suspected, only 2GB is recognized by the G4 even though there was 2.5GB in there. But when it's in there by itself, the full 1GB is recognized and used.
