So we have a G5 1.8 single, and I was trying out using a mic in it for simple iChat AV audio convos, only to find that the audio in port does not seem to work. its not the actual mic because I have treid it in a PC and it works fine. When the mic is plugged in, the system preferences shows that the computer is recieving no audio feed, but if the jack is wiggled around whilst putting it into the port, there is some sort of feed, but then it dies


anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or is this a back to apple job?

the G5 haven't got a mic input, only a line in (the diference lies in the level, the mic needs a higher level).

You need to use a pre-amp in order to use the mic.

also, (and that happens to my G5 DP 2.0), after a reboot, the audio in is at the lowest in the system prefs, and I have to put it up again, have you checked that?
