Hello all,
What I'd like to know is...can the new iMac be mounted on a wall instead of using the stand. Alternately, could the stand be turned upside down and suspended from the bottom of a cabinet?
I'm trying to clear desk space (for those of you who are curious).
Any thoughts?
Dave

I know with the last iMacs you could use a standard VESA mount, but im 99.9% sure they are no longer compatible with the new iMacs, though I do belive there are some alternitive mounts...

I also thought that they discontinued/changed the mounts for the new iMacs.
Has anyone mounted one of the new iMacs (w/ the built in camera) onto the wall? Is the stand removeable from the back?
As long as the stand can be removed, I would bet there would be 3rd party solutions available eventually, yes?
Thanks,
Mike

I dont think that the stand can be removed witout damaging the case. Which of course no one would want to do. Mac should release their own stands. They would make a fair bit of money from it.
how much do the new iMac rock donkey's socks.

Apple does not have a VESA adapter plate for the new iMacs. I wonder if the ACDs will dump that option also.

ACD = Apple Cinema Display
Sometimes AlCD for Aluminum Cinema Display (the current generation)
VESA = Video Electronics Standards Association, but the particular standard we're refering to is the 100mm mounting system screens.

My iMac, the previous version of the G5, is mounted on a swingarm LCD device that I really love.
It is called the iLift from a company called www.lcdarms.com
I highly recommend it.
It can be table mounted or wall mounted. Apple just needs to make the VESA adapter for the new iSight iMac so you can use one of these arms.
You can see pictures of my iMac here:

I think the arm cost me about $330, not including the VESA mount which was about $30. Took me about an hour to assemble it, and mount it.
