I just ordered a mac mini from the applestore, it is a Refurbished unit 1.42
on the description it says it comes with 256MB DDR333 SDRAM

If one orders a new Mac mini it says it comes with
512MB DDR333 SDRAM

I use my Mac for my ebay buisness so I spend most of my computer time on line.
will 256 Mb memory be enough for this, and if I do want to upgrade what memory would I order, I have no problem opening computers up and adding things, but I just do not know what memory to get?

Regardless of what you do, 512MB is about the minimum for Tiger.
You can upgrade later with PC2700/DDR333 or PC3200/DDR400 (sometimes cheaper). Opening the Mac mini is a bit difficult.

The mini will support up to 1GB, but I would atleast recommend 512MB.
Like the previous poster said, its hard to get into. My boyfriend installed a 1GB chip into mine last week. It took us a while to crack into the case, but its amazing to see the inards of such a compact little machine. You need to get two small and very very thin putty knives or two thin cake frosting spreaders (like we used) to slide down into the casing and pop the casing clasps in order to get into it.

Just get a 1 Gb DIMM from a reputable third party seller who guarantees compatibility with your Mini, and install it. Putting in a 512 to take it out again later is not very efficient. The Mini will work best with the 1 Gb RAM.
